Wolvercote Village Hall

System Size: 10kWp Install

Challenge: To install a 10kWp PV system safely, comprising of 60 Sharp ND170W solar panels on an existing tiled roof. To overcome the problem of disposal of asbestos found in the roof, adhering to the relevant health & safety guidelines. To design and install an array capable of providing surplus energy to the annual electricity needs of the hall.

From help finding suitable grant finance and form filling, to sending a representative to explain the technicalities of the project to grant-funding bodies, Joju solar helped make our solar dream a reality

Solution: Joju Solar custom designed the PV array based on a consultation and the annual electricity demand of the hall.The asbestos problem, once discovered, was researched and dealt with efficiently in accordance with health & safety guidelines. The inverter and electrical infrastructure were installed so that the electricity could be fed into the national grid. All the roof work was carried out from the exterior of the building, thereby allowing the building to function throughout the installation process.

Rewards: The provision of all the power required for the village hall to serve it's community. The means to sell surplus electricity back to the national grid and to earn money from Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) for all electricity produced. An extra avenue of income to fund further improvements to the Wolvercote Village Hall in the near future. A positive impact on the environment as a result of saving 3.5 tonnes of carbon a year.
