There are many solar companies out there and choosing one can be difficult. We can't make that decision for you but what we can do to make your decision easier to tell you a little about ourself and why our customers have chosen to us.

We have over 5 years experience in the solar PV market and we are one of the longest MCS accredited installers in the country. In fact we were the first to be MCS accredited in London. Our passion in what we do and our expertise in solar PV allows us to better understand our customer needs. All our system designs and installations are bespoke and tailor made to fit your specifications which means you will be getting a solar system that is right for you. Our staff will hold your hand every step of the way from quote to installation and even date the installation is complete. We provide a no obligation free site survey and quotation with your dedicated customer account manager on hand to take you through any questions or queries you may have. We have many happy customers who are willing to talk to you about their Joju Solar system, and experiences.

A kW is a unit of power and measures the instantaneous rate of energy production from the PV system. A 1kW system is capable of producing a maximum of 1kW of power under bright sunshine. The actual power produced at any one time will depend primarily on the brightness of the light received, as well as secondary effects such as temperature and colour of light.

A kWh is a measure of the energy delivered over a period of time. 1 kWh is equivalent to a 1kW kettle being boiled for for 1 hour, or 1/2 kW delivered for 2 hours. Joju Solar will make an estimate of the energy produced over the course of a year.  You are paid on the basis of the energy generated, and you can compare the kWh produced by your system with the kWh you use by looking up your electricity use on your utility bill.

Daylight hits the photvoltaic cells and is converted to clean electricity. The inverter is a clever box of electrical tricks that converts the electricity from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), for use in the home. When the solar PV system is producing more power than is needed, it is exported to the grid. Whenever your panels are not producing power (for example at night) then energy is imported from the grid in the normal way.

Once we have installed and commissioned your solar PV system, you own it, having control of a long-term free source of electricity. You are not only saving money but actively playing your part in protecting the environment at the same time. A PV system makes no noise, has no moving parts, requires minimal maintenance ad generates no CO2 emissions.

Yes. Solar PV is perfectly suited to our climate. In Germany, which has roughly the same levels of sunlight as the UK, millions of homes now have solar PV panels. The important thing to bear in mind is that solar power depends on intensity of light, not direct sunlight. So even when the weather is overcast, your solar PV system will still be producing clean electricity.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, the average 3 bedroom house consumes 3,300 units of electricity (kWh) a year (if the house gets its cooking and heating from a non electric supply). However, we always recommend that you look at your last few bills or call your electricity supplier to find out how many units you consume. You can then compare this to the output of the system we recommend.

Whenever your solar PV system is producing more electricity than your home is using, it will be exported into the grid for other homes to use. Arrangements made with your energy supplier will enable you to be paid for this power so you can be sure your energy bills will be lower and none of your clean, green electricity will be wasted. You can speak to your electricity provider for details to check which energy companies offer this arrangement.

A solar PV system uses light sensitive semi-conducting materials that generate electricity when exposed to sunlight. This can be used to power household appliances and lighting. A solar hot water system uses the sun's energy to heat water for washing and bathing.

No, but we are happy to recommend companies that install solar thermal and who share our standards of customer satisfaction and installation excellence.

Joju Solar will manage the grid connection on your behalf. The company that owns the wires outside your house needs to know where all electricity generators on that network are located for operational and safety reasons. We will notify them on your behalf once the installation has been commissioned.

Normally planning permission is not required for a solar PV system but there are a few exceptions. If you live in a conservation area, or a listed building you may be required to apply for Planning Permission. It is best to confirm with you local authority whether you are living in a conservation area or a listed building. If you need help with this aspect of your installation process then we'll be delighted to help.

One of the key advantages of a solar PV system over other renewable energy systems is that there is minimal maintenance required. There are no moving parts and any bird droppings or dust that settle on the modules will be washed away by rainfall. A periodic inspection/testing of the PV electrical system can be carried out but is not required.

This is dependant on the size of the system but our MCS accredited installers make sure that all our installations are of the highest quality and carried out with little disruption/upheaval to you. On acceptance of our quote our project manager(s) would be able to give you a more precise time scale.

All our panels come with a 25 year manufacturers performance warranty, so in the unlikely event that you experience problems we can arrange a home visit to ensure that everything is working as it should be. In addition to this we provide a 5 year guarantee on the workmanship of the installation for your system so you can be sure the service we provide will be of the highest standards. We believe in looking after our customers long after the installation has finished. If you have any problem with your system then please call us and we'll help.

FiT stands for 'Feed-in Tariff', which is a government clean green energy cash-back incentive scheme which began in April 2010 across the UK to encourage and reward people who install renewable energy technologies. The rates you will receive for energy produced is dependant on the size of the system you have installed. Click here to view the rates table.

This depends on how much you want to invest, what your budget is, how much electricity you want to generate through your solar PV system. It also takes into account how much south facing, unshaded roof space you have. If your solar PV system supplies half of your household's electricity, it will make a big reduction to your electricity bills and to your carbon footprint. After discussing with you your understanding of solar PV systems and your circumstances, we will be able to recommend the size of system you require and advise you on costs. Remember, all of our systems are tailor made to suit your specific needs.

This varies depending on the size and cost of your system. We can give you a more precise time after carrying out a site survey and once a quote has been produced. One thing to remember is that you will benefit from free electricity for years to come after your system cost has been paid back.

Due to the Government's clean green energy cash back scheme (FiTs) all electricity suppliers are obliged to offer the same generation and export credits for micro-generation systems to their customers so you may choose whichever electricity retailer you prefer. You do not have to claim your FIT from your electricity supplier though you can do if you wish.
