Meet the team...

Joe Michaels - Commercial Director

Joe has a commercial and entrepreneurial background. In 2006 Joe set up Joju Solar determined to use his experience and skills to be part of the new Green Economy and play a real part in tackling climate change. Joe has spent many years living, working and travelling in developing countries and has a passion for helping us to move to a greener future. He says: “Joju Solar is part of the future.  I set up Joju Solar because I know that companies like ours can make a real difference in helping us move to a clean green Britain.”

Dr. Christian Jardine - Technical Director

Dr. Christian Jardine is a founder member of Joju Solar and has been involved with solar PV since 2001 when he ran Oxford University's research into solar energy and microgeneration. He is recognised as one of the UK's foremost experts in the performance of solar PV and is the author of prize-winning papers on the subject, as well as leading publications such as "PV in the UK" and "Power from the People". Chris says, "within Joju Solar I am responsible for ensuring the products we use are of the highest available quality, that we are always at the forefront of our industry, and that all staff are trained to deliver excellent quality installations." As for why he works in business as well as academia? "Ultimatley, if achieveing CO2 reductions is your main goal in life - you have to get out there and build projects - talking about how to do it is not enough!" Phil Michaels - Operations Director

Phil is Joju Solar’s Operations Director. A lawyer by background, he spent ten years as Head of Legal at a national environmental charity where he worked to build a better legal system to help address the massive challenge of climate change. He says:  “I want Joju Solar to be a significant part of the new Green Economy – helping us and our customers to become a real part of the solution.”  Phil tries to spend his spare time outdoors with his three small boys.

James Page - Commercial Project Manager

A chartered engineer, James studied engineering with economics and industrial sociology at Cambridge University. After a career in telecoms and broadcasting he joined Joju Solar in 2009 and now manages a wide range of commercial projects. James has an active (Green) political life and chaired the Climate Change Task Group for the London Borough of Richmond. He has written articles on subjects such as the trading of radio spectrum (not so different from trading carbon). He also contributes a community website.

Joe Gabriel - Commercial Project Manager

Joe is a graduate from the University of Oxford where he spent time researching "green chemistry" investigating novel methods of carbon dioxide sequestration, his work in this area has been published in a number of academic journals. After graduating and before joining Joju Solar, Joe was responsible for the development and international accreditation of the SolarTile, an innovative building integrated photovoltaic module. In his spare time Joe can be found racing lawnmowers across the south of England.

Jon Cowdrill - Sales & Residential Project Manager

Having studied a masters in renewable energy where Jon enjoyed assessing various technologies and energy futures as well as looking at policy initiatives Jon decided to put his knowledge into practice with Joju Solar. In his spare time Jon is a volunteer for carbon reduction initiatives like Transition Highbury and Carbon Conversations. "while working at Joju Solar on the residential team I have seen first hand how generating your own energy really engages people in energy matters and helps them to reduce their electricity consumption." Outside of Joju Solar Jon is part of a band known as Oyz II Men.

Jordi Martinez Ros - Residential Project Manager

Having previously worked at the Energy Savings Trust as an Assistant Program Manager, Jordi brings a good understanding of the technical aspects of project management. Jordi's experience with working on small and large projects adds a valuable skill to the Joju family. "I really enjoy working in a quickly growing company like Joju Solar where I am constantly learning and I get to put into practice the skills I have gained." Jordi passionately follows his beloved Barcelona and likes to travel.

Hitz Mistry - Marketing Manager

Hitz joined Joju Solar in 2010 to head up the marketing function within the company. Before joining Joju Solar Hitz helped launch an energy consultancy company helping people better understand how energy efficient they can be by making small changes in their homes. "I enjoy working at Joju Solar as the company is growing and moving in the right direction. To be part of an organisation that not only works ethically but also approaches what they do with passion is a breathe of fresh air." In his spare time you can find Hitz partaking in various sports or in the kitchen creating (what he calls edible) master pieces.

Julie Devars - Quality & Customer Services Manager

Julie has been involved with Joju Solar since the company took its first steps. She was instrumental in helping to obtain and renewing our various accreditations, promoting the company during public events (from green fairs to trade exhibitions). Julie now works across all departments helping to ensure that the Joju Solar team are operating to the highest standards. Julie is a keen gardener and enjoys getting away to the countryside when ever possible or can be found hitting the slopes.

Endi Ekezie - Finance Team

Endi has worked for Joju Solar since 2009 where he began working as an administrator. His role has since developed and Endi now works in the finance team providing valuable support to all staff. Endi has many years of experience gained from working with organisations in various roles. "I enjoy working for Joju Solar as I believe in saving energy and protecting the environment." When away from Joju Solar Endi produces, records and plays music.

Nick Garrett - Senior Electrician

Nick is an expert electrical technician, with over ten years electrical engineering experience. He is fully qualified, having achieved City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 (7671) and the 17th edition. Nick is a member of JIB for health & Safety. He has also achieved the City & Guilds qualification uniquely designed for PV installations.

Shakerra Bakie - Accounts & Administration

Shakerra recently joined the Joju family after graduating with a BSc in Psychology from London Metropolitan University. She is part of the administration and accounts team adding valuable support across the whole business. In Shakerra's spare time you can find her dancing the night away or reading scientific journals on environmental, social and cultural awareness.

Will Broadfoot - Residential Customer Liaison

Will is an environmental science graduate from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He has spent time in Kenya volunteering with small communities, developing greener waste management strategies and conserving local endangered marine life. "I am a passionate environmentalist with ideals of building a greener future". Will has joined the Joju family as a Project Manager on the residential team. He enjoys the outdoors and would jump at any chance to catch a wave.

Maxine Reeves - Residential Customer Liaison

Since graduating with a degree in physical geography from Durham University, Maxine has been advocating for a greener future through work with the Energy Saving Trust advice centres and on various projects involving renewable energy, energy efficiency measures and policy. Maxine enjoys playing hockey, tennis and has a passion for skiing.

Rob Wyke - Business Development Manager

Rob provides Joju Solar with business development consultancy and project management services for our large-scale installations. With 15 years experience in land acquisition, development and construction - Rob brings a broad-based technical & practical knowledge to the Joju family. Rob has an in-depth knowledge of planning, affordable housing, construction and sustainability. Rob graduated from Manchester University with an architecture degree in the mid-90's. In his spare time Rob likes to spend time with his young family and is an ardent snowboarder.

Manraj Deooray - Commercial Project Manager

Manraj has an academic foundation in environmental economics from London School of Economics as well as a masters in renewable energy engineering where he specialised in solar, wind and bio-mass technologies. His professional experience spans across the investment banking industry in which he has had various roles in the debt and equity markets. Manraj believes that financing of renewable energy projects are vital in order to create a sustainable future and move away from the world's dependanecy on fossil fuel. Manraj has joined the Joju family as a Commercial Project Manager working on medium to large scale projects. In his free time he can be found travelling and enjoying the outdoors.

Stuart Fyall - Roofing Team Leader

Stuart has over 11 years experience in roofing having worked across all types of roofs. "I really enjoy installing solar PV systems. We have done some very interesting installations over the last few years on warehouses, summer garden houses, and even many other buildings. It is great to see customers interested and excited about the work we are doing". In his spare time Stuart enjoys relaxing with his fiance and young son. Stuart is a keen runner and can be found taking part in 2-3 marathons a year.

Curtis Potter - Roofing Team

Curtis has been working as a roofer with Joju Solar for the last year having previously worked in many roles in the building trade. "I enjoy working part of a team that helps me develop my skills and put into practice everything I have learnt from my past roles. Curtis is an avid skater and enjoys playing Ice Hockey, he even represented England at under 16 level.

Jermaine Johnson - Senior Project Manager

Jermaine is a civil engineering and building sciences graduate from the University of Toronto, who has been specialising in sustainable projects for the past 6 years in the North American, Caribbean and International markets. With 14+ years experience in Construction Project Management, Design Build and Real Estate Development, Jermaine brings this knowledge to the sustainability sector. In his spare time Jermaine enjoys playing Football, Golf and Travelling. "Being on board with Joju Solar excites me and allows me to continue my quest for expertise, knowledge and development in the Green Sector".

Isobelle Jull - Residential Customer Liaison

After graduating with a Postgraduate degree in Energy Management from Otago University in New Zealand Isobelle has gained a wealth of experience in renewable energy and envrionmental sciences. Isobelle worked for a hydro and wind electricity generator before working on environmental monitoring of water resources around the UK. Most weekends and when ever Isobelle is free you can find her kayaking or snowboarding.

Ben Hampson - Residential Project Officer

Ben joined the Joju Solar family after working on one of the largest electrical installations in the UK; the Olympic Site CCTV project. Having acquired some invaluable experience whilst working with a variety of senior project managers, Ben has been able to bring a thorough understanding of dealing with projects at all levels to his role. "It has been fantastic to get the chance to join Joju Solar, a green company with a genuine sense of environmental responsibility." Ben studied Sound Engineering at college & university, and spends his spare time DJing and producing his own music.

Glen McClure - Senior Roofer

Glen has been working in the roofing industry for over 10 years, working on various medium to large scale projects including replacing the lead at the Treasury. Prior to joining Joju Solar Glen worked with various solar PV companies leading a team of installers on various projects ranging from 1kW to 100kW sized systems. Outside of work Glen has a keen interest in football and spending time with his family and friends. "I feel proud working for a company that is doing more than just talking about being green".

Ben Budding - PV Design Engineer

After becoming a Chartered Engineer through his 5 years product design and development experience, Ben began his studies in renewable energy. He spent three months working for voluntary solar organisation Grupo Fenix in Central America. There he enjoyed living with his temporary Nicaraguan family, playing for the local football team "Las Palmeras" and helping teach many of the village how to make their own solar panels using scrap solar cells from the US. With over two years PV design experience under his belt - he says he is still learning every day. Outside work he enjoys travel, photography and learning to speak other languages.
